In my view good journalists have three essential tasks. First, to be tireless researchers and skilled collectors of information. Second, to take all of the bits and pieces they gather, not unlike the individual elements of a puzzle, and assemble them until a story emerges. Third, to turn what they have discovered into a compelling narrative.
