Anne Schukat is a freelance journalist who often writes about science and technology. She has been a regular contributor to The Economist's Technology Quarterly for more than a decade, writing about clean technologies, energy and bioscience. Her work has also appeared in Fortune, Business 2.0, Fodor's Travel Guides and other publications. Anne, who grew up near Cologne, Germany, came to the San Francisco Bay Area after finishing high school. She received a B.A. from San Francisco State University and an M.J. from UC Berkeley's Graduate School of Journalism. When she is not on assignment, she loves traveling the world and exploring nature, as well as the cultural and artistic treasures of humankind.
